Why Four Winds?
The name Four Winds Restorative Grounds is derived from and pays homage to the fact that, to indigenous peoples, the number four plays a very significant role in our individual lives and in the universe...there are four faces of man: the child, the adolescent, the adult and the aged. There are four things above the earth: sun, moon, stars, and planets. There are four parts to the green things: root, stem, leaves, fruit. There are four divisions of time: day, night, moon, year. There are four elements; there are four races of man; there are four seasons; even the human heart is divided into four components and, most importantly, there are four directions (or winds).

The four winds symbolize knowledge and wisdom, both of which need to be integrated into one's character and life. The East Wind supports astuteness and spirituality, the SouthWind promotes perception and emotions, the West Wind promotes insight and knowledge while the North Wind supports recuperation and renewal. All of these forces must come together in each life to achieve balance and harmony for the mind, body and spirit.

Thus, the name is apropos for a location that provides healing, wellness, health maintenance and, above all, peace to everyone who receives massage there.
